About us
Sophlight Childcare with Orphans Home is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to protect and empower orphans, youth, widows, and other vulnerable groups through education, advocacy, and community-based support promoting dignity, equality, and a life free from violence and abuse.
The Foundation was created by Sophia Iddi Labia, a mother and community advocate from Morogoro, Tanzania, who dedicated herself to caring for children in need.
Sophia’s journey began when she opened a small daycare, initially caring for just five children. As word spread about her work, more children in vulnerable circumstances came to her for support. Following a community and government outreach, 24 children were brought forward and entrusted to her care. This became the beginning of a bigger vision: creating a safe and loving home where orphaned and vulnerable children could receive care, protection, education, and hope for their future.
With compassion and determination, Sophia continued developing the centre into what is now Sophlight Children Care with Orphans Home, located in Mgudeni, Lukobe Ward, Morogoro Municipality.
Sophia believes that every child deserves to grow up in an environment where they are loved, protected, educated, and given the opportunity to build a better future. Through Sophlight, she continues working toward that vision and welcoming support from individuals and organisations who share the same commitment to children’s wellbeing.

Imagine that you cannot remember what your mother looked like. Imagine that you do not know when you will eat your next meal. Or where you are going to sleep tonight. Now imagine that you are only 4 or 6 years old.
This is the reality for kids in Tanzania. Without us, these orphans roam the streets. We are a small, local charity with a heart to improve the lives of these vulnerable children and our community.

Every dollar helps
What can we do with your money?
- $65 buys school supplies, clothing and personal effects for one orphan
- $40/month ensures that one orphan eats 3 meals per day and attends school
- $100 buys breakfast for 30 orphans for a week
Our Programme
At Sophlight Children Care with Orphans Home, our programs are designed to meet the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children while helping them build a safe, healthy, and hopeful future.
Child Care & Protection
We provide a safe, caring, and supportive environment where children can grow with dignity, security, and love.
Education & Sponsorship
We support children in accessing education and help provide school-related needs such as learning materials, uniforms, and other essential educational support.
Food & Basic Needs
We work to provide children with nutritious meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other basic necessities essential for their wellbeing.
Community Support
We work with families, community members, and other partners to identify children in vulnerable situations and connect them with appropriate care and support.
Future Development
We are working toward strengthening our facilities and expanding educational opportunities for the children, including the development of classrooms, a library, and other learning spaces.
